MAKE TECH MORE HUMANE

We are convinced, that technology should be created to improve the lives of people and society as a whole. A diverse range of perspectives should be taken into account when designing, developing and releasing technologies.

Our Story

What began as a passion project has evolved into a movement. Hello 50:50 World was founded in 2022, starting as a one-person project and consists now of over 50 people.

We strive to create a more humane tech industry, where nobody feels left behind.

Our roots

Our movement was sparked by the inequalities we experienced while working in the tech industry and by observing how contemporary technologies are developed and used.

When diverse voices are missing, blind spots can emerge — not only in teams and leadership, but also in the technologies themselves. These blind spots can lead to applications that reinforce stereotypes, exclude certain groups, or are used in ways that cause harm.

Hello 50:50 World was founded in response to this awareness: to create space for balanced perspectives, critical reflection, and shared responsibility in shaping technology that works for everyone.

We burst bubbles

We want to hear your perspective about tech & beyond. Our regular meetups and events are designed to bring people with different backgrounds together.

At our meetups, there is only one rule: every participant brings someone with a different perspective (e.g., different gender, ethnicity, socio-economic background) to ensure a balanced representation.

Milestones

The first Hello 50:50 World meetup takes place in Zurich

Lisa Stähli organized and hosted the first Hello 50:50 World meetup in Zurich.
The first meetup in Bern

MAY 2023
Founding of Hello 50:50 World

JUNE 2024

The non-profit association Hello 50:50 World is founded.
Merging with Girls in Tech Switzerland

JULY 2024

Hello 50:50 World merges with Girls in Tech Switzerland.
Hello 50:50 World wins the Diversity & Inclusion Award from Siemens

SEPTEMBER 2024
Lisa Stähli wins the Diversity & Inclusion Award for Hello 50:50 World at the Female Innovation Forum.
The first meetup in Basel

OCTOBER 2024
The first corporate partnership with Zalando

Zühlke Group becomes a corporate partner

Launch of the app Panelista

Panelista helps organizers connect with diverse speakers, and gives speakers the visibility they deserve. The app is powered by Hello 50:50 World.
